The Last Will and Testament of Richard Inman of Wisconsin

I Richard Inman of the town of Rock in the County of Rock and State of Wisconsin being of sound disposing mind memory and understanding and being conscious of the uncertainty of human life do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say

First    I will and direct that the expense of my funeral and all my just debts be fully paid out of my personal estate as soon as may be after my decease.

Second    I will and bequeath unto my beloved wife Lydia all my wearing apparrel and clothing and all my household furniture during her natural life and it is my wish and desire that my wife Lydia shall occupy and make her home in my homestead where I now reside, but if she should chose after my death to reside somewhere else than at the homestead, then it is my will and I hereby direct that she shall have one half of the rents use and profits of the farm where I now reside to be paid to her semi annually by my executor herein manner during his natural life to be received by her for his support in lien of her dower but if my son Caleb B shall support her to her satisfaction so she shall be satisfied to remain at the homestead then such support to be in full of all other allowance for support.

Third    I give and bequeath to my son John W. Inman, my daughter Sylvania A. Britton, Harvey H. Inman, Jane Bunnell, Alfred B. Hawser, son of my daughter Isabella Hawser deceased, Richard D. Inman and Pamelia (Permelia?) Josephine Stone by way of kind remembrance the sum of $15. Fifteen Dollars each to be paid to them respectively within six months after my decease by my executor herein named.

Fourth    I give and bequeath to my son Caleb B. Inman in view of his kindness and faithfulness to me, all the rest and residue of my property both real and personal subject only to the bequests herein before made my real estate herein refered to consists of the farm where I now reside being about One Hundred and sixteen acres of land situated in the North West quarter of Section No Twenty Seven (27) Town two Range twelve (12) East.

Fifth    and lastly I hereby appoint my son Caleb B. Inman of the town of Rock, now residing with me executor of this my last will and testament and I hereby revoke all former wills by me made. In writing whereof I have hereinto set my hand and seal this 24th day of June 1873.

The above and forgiving instrument consisting of one sheet was now here signed and sealed by Richard Inman, the testator in the presence of each of us and was at the same time published and ? by him to be his last will and testament and we at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have severally subscribed our names.

  4. Sylvania A. Britton, who resides at Waukon, Allamankee County, in the said State of Iowa.
  5. Jane Bunnell, who resides at Waterloo, Black Hawk County in the said State of Iowa.
  6. Alfred B. Hawser, son of Isabella Hawser deceased, and grandson of said Richard Inman, who resides at Sioux City, in the said State of Iowa.
  7. Clarence Inman and Lilla Raymond, children of John W. Inman deceased, and grandchildren of said Richard Inman, whose residences are unknown to your petitioners: Some of who are minors:--and 
  8. Henry Stone, son of Pamelia J. Stone deceased, and grandson of said Richard Inman, who resides at Le Claire, Scott County, in the said State of Iowa, and who is a minor of about twelve years, and has no guardian in the State of Wisconsin.
